With Compassion & Empathy

We offer a discrete set of services directly supporting our partners as they integrate justice and equity in their projects and organizations. Our expertise in Environmental Graphic Design, Landscape Architecture, and Landscape Ecology converge within our Environmental Justice practice to address Distributive Justice, Procedural Justice, and Recognition Justice issues.

Environmental Justice Portfolio

Using spatial data to address distributive injustices

Working with community to make processes more equitable

Recognizing history and culture to advance justice through design

The movement to respond to the biodiversity and climate crises is inextricably linked to movements to expand civil rights, reduce income inequality and achieve social justice. Two hundred fifteen years of settler colonialism and systemic racism have been inscribed upon the region’s landscape and the lives of its inhabitants.

We believe that to build a more equitable and sustainable future, histories of injustice need to be actively redressed. We support our partners in balancing the distribution of environmental amenities to communities with the most need and ensuring that public processes are facilitated using accessible and equitable methods. We also seek to daylight histories by interpreting injustice in public space.

Our Environmental Justice services include:

    • Spatial Model Development
    • Demographic Analysis
    • Dasymetric Population Allocation
    • Equitable Engagement Strategy and Facilitation
    • Equity-focused Planning and Design
    • Urban Ecological Assessment
